The lakes and rivers of Ruka and Kuusamo are full of  fish, swimming in water so pure that you can drink it straight from the lake or river.

After the excursion their guides will help you with the cleaning of your catch, and can also give you tips for cooking a delicious meal out of your catch.

Trolling

This is a fully guided trolling fishing trip for 1-6 people at all levels of experience, from beginner to expert.

Trolling, the art of drawing fishing lines through water whether behind a boat or by winding them in (not to be confused with trawling which is done with nets), is mostly done in the clean waters of Lake Kuusamo where the crisp fresh air, the speed of the boat and stunning surrounding scenery guarantee you a unique experience and an excellent opportunity for a relaxing day of trolling.

For their trolling trips they use 8-12 professional-level rods and a fully equipped lure fishing boat. The excursion will be led by a trained and experienced guide who will take you safely to the best fishing sites. If necessary, beginners will be introduced to the secrets of trolling as well as to the cleaning and cooking of the catch.

The main catch in trolling is usually pike and perch, and also brown trout, whitefish and freshwater salmon, when they are in season.

Trolling is suitable for beginners and for the whole family. The duration of an average excursion is normally 4-5 hours. Fishing Excursions Finland will gladly build you a tailored fishing package with the additional services of your choice.

Spinning

This is a fully guided excursion for 1-5 people at all levels of experience, from beginner to expert.

Spin fishing is one of the most popular forms of recreational fishing. No wonder, as the charm of the sport comes from battling the wriggling and fighting fish at the end of the line.

Spin fishing excursions take place on various lakes around the Kuusamo area, which often yield a plentiful catch. The lakes and the wilderness surrounding them make a beautiful setting for a successful spin fishing trip.

Fishing Excursions Finland’s experienced guides know the waters of the area and the best sites to catch fish, as well as many fishing tricks which they are ready to show you. Hopefully after the excursion you will have a few new tricks up your sleeve!

On each excursion they will choose the best way of fishing for time of year. Often it is the familiar, easy spin fishing with metal spoonbaits, spinner lures and sink lures, and you can also try out the newer ways of fishing such as jigging and jerking. Spin fishing is an easy sport to learn, and their spin fishing excursions are also well-suited for beginners.

River Fishing

This is a fully guided excursion for 2 to 40 people of all levels of experience from beginner to expert.

The appeal of river fishing is centered on the valuable catch that can be expected, i.e. brown trout and grayling. Fishing Excursions Finland’s river fishing excursions will take you to the great trout rivers of the Kuusamo wilderness, the rivers Kuusinkijoki, Oulankajoki, and Kitkajoki. Here you can see the steep rock walls rise high above the crystal-clear river water. The rugged primeval forests, foaming rapids, quiet river valleys, and the stream rich with fish bring you a fishing experience which is both enjoyable and challenging.

The rivers give you a chance to fish in many different ways and in many kinds of waters. In addition to traditional spin fishing, you can also try fly fishing. If necessary, they will arrange fly fishing courses where beginners who are keen on fly fishing will learn the basics of this enjoyable way to fish.

Fly Fishing

This is a fully guided fishing trip for 2 to 20 people of all level of experience, from beginner to expert.

Fly fishing is one of the most valued types of fishing among anglers. The casting techniques differ from ordinary spin fishing in many ways and, due to the lightness of the flies used as lures, special casting technique has to be learnt. After mastering the technique, fly fishing tends to lead enthusiasts to faraway places, in pursuit of tight lines and the promise of a new and exciting catch.

Fly fishing takes a bit of practise, but with the help of their guides everyone can learn the basics of fly fishing. For a more experienced fly fisherman, their guides have the latest tricks and the best sites to offer.

The venues for fly fishing are the rivers Kuusinkijoki, Oulankajoki and Kitkajoki, which are considered the best rivers for catching brown trout in Finland and even in the whole of Europe. You can also catch grayling and whitefish from these rivers.

Winter Fishing Excursion

This is a 2 hour winter fishing excursion suitable for the whole family.

A winter excursion to do some ice fishing and check the nets gives you a rare glimpse into the real lives of the people of this area during the frozen winters. The glittering snow, the creeping darkness, the tranquillity of nature and a campfire on ice will give you an experience you’ll never forget.

Their experienced guides will lead the group safely over the ice and under their guidance you will fish with hooks, nets and jigs. Their guides will show the correct jigging and net fishing techniques to beginners.

The catch will often be comprised of pike, perch, roach, ide, whitefish and burbot. During the excursion you will have some coffee and a snack.

This day excursion is well-suited for the whole family. The duration of the excursion is approximately two hours.

Winter Fishing and Snowmobile Excursion

This is a full day excursion lasting 5 hours suitable for the whole family.

The small wilderness lakes of Kuusamo are ready and waiting for you to enjoy winter fishing with a hint of ancient northern exoticness. This full-day excursion takes you through the snow-covered wilderness by snowmobile. The quiet tranquillity of nature, the snow and the dusky daylight together with a campfire on the ice and a meal in the wilderness provide an unforgettable setting for this fishing excursion.

You will start your trip by driving the snowmobiles (two people per snowmobile) around 10km to a lake in the wilderness.

At the lake you will fish with hooks, nets and jigs. The catch will often be comprised of pike, perch, roach, ide, whitefish and burbot. During the excursion you will have a picnic lunch by the campfire. It is also possible to cook the catch for lunch then and there.

This day excursion is well-suited for the whole family. The duration of the excursion is approximately five hours.
