Hi Lousie, I went up the Talvijarvi lift today, it’s still a drag lift but its alternate buttons and Tbars, I think that’s what they mean by combined. So you can either take a button or share a T. It’s a free to use lift as well, there was no ticket machine at the bottom and it comes out right at the bottom of the front slopes near the ski shire shop and Piste building.

Yeah, we were really lucky with the northern lights, its been so cloudy this month that we haven’t seen them as much as usual. The skies are clear again today so fingers crossed they stay this way for a while and you get to see the northern lights whilst you are here!

Brilliant thanks – you’re so lucky seeing the Northern lights (24th Jan), we’ve yet to see them, hoping we will this year.

Hi Louise, thank you for your kind words. What a great place to own an apartment! As far as I am aware the talvijarvi lift is still just a drag lift coming up to the main village – I’m not sure what they mean about combined. I haven’t used that lift yet this season but when I go skiing on Wednesday I’ll ski down there and try it out. I’ll let you know then.

Hi Heather,

Love your blogs. We are coming to Ruka in a couple of weeks time for the 4th time, we own an apartment at Aurinkorinne and were wondering about the Talvijarvi lift, the main website says that is has been upgraded and is now a combined lift, how does this work? Thanks
