Ruka Ski Hire Info

There are two ski hire shops in Ruka, both of them owned and run by Ruka so the prices are exactly the same. The only reason to choose one or the other really, is convenience in collecting and returning your equipment.

Ruka Village Ski Hire

The ski hire shop in Ruka Village is on the ground floor of the Piste building next to the Rukahovi Hotel at the bottom of the front ski slopes.

Vuosseli Ski Hire shop

The Vuosseli ski hire shop is at the bottom of the Vuosselli ski slopes, on the other side of the hill to the village, where the majority of ski runs and the ski school meeting place are.
Getting between the two sides of the hill is very simple for skiers and snowboarders – simply take a lift to the top and ski/board down the other side. For none skiers and beginners there is a ski bus that runs every hour.

Ruka Ski Lockers

Ruka ski lockers in can be found in both the Vuosselli and Ruka Village ski hire shops. They cost €6 a day or €29 per week to rent plus a 10€ deposit for the key.

You can fit a couple of pairs of skis or a couple of snowboards per locker. It is not advisable to leave your ski boots in the lockers over night as you will probably want to take them back to your accommodation to dry them out. You don’t want to be putting on damp boots in freezing temperatures the next day.
