I only used them in the garden maybe thats why it seemed to keep them away. In the woods you might need stronger protection. I use them when gardening and it keep all the bad bugs away :) I found out some stuff about the patches on this website, they have some articles explaining how they work and stuff like that.. not sure how true it is but they don't seem to be selling anything so its probably ok.
