Taxis

There are two taxi companies:

Taxis in Ruka tend to be of mini bus size and, compared to prices in the UK, are expensive.  A journey to Kuusamo, for example, will cost around €40 one way and it can easily cost €10 just to get to the other side of the ski resort

All taxis take credit cards as well as cash.

If getting a taxi it is advisable to write down the name of the place you are going to and the name of the cabin or hotel you want to return to later.  Trust me when I say the chances of you pronouncing it properly are slim, especially after after a few drinks, and driving around endlessly trying to find the place you are staying can get rather expensive.
