In the winter months Ruka is a popular ski resort with 29 groomed slopes with blues, reds and blacks as well as children’s slopes, a snowboard street and park and over 500kms of cross country ski tracks.

It is also a center of winter holiday activity with snowmobile excursions, shoe shoe trips, husky sledding, reindeer sleigh rides, visits to Santa’s home, ice carting, ice climbing, ice fishing, and much more.

And the northern lights are a regular feature through the winter months.

In the summer when the snow and ice has melted Ruka and Kuusamo become a hub of summer activity with hiking, bear watching, canoeing, white water rafting, hiking with huskies, lake cruises, fishing trips, bird watching, nature photography and plenty more.

In the summer months the sun in Ruka and Kuusamo never sets and we have 24 hour daylight, the sun shining brightly all through the night.
